Steady marks come from steady weeks.
Small classes on a fixed weekly timetable, taught by the same tutor every week. Each lesson starts with what your child got wrong last time, and every parent gets a short written note each month.

What we teach, and what each course works on
Every course follows the school syllabus for that year. The difference is pace: we slow down where marks are actually lost.
Years 4–6Primary foundations
- Maths
Number sense, fractions, and working word problems out on paper step by step.
- English
Reading for meaning, sentence control, and planning a piece before writing it.
- Science
Explaining results in full sentences, and reading tables and graphs.
Years 7–9Lower secondary
- Maths
Algebra habits, negative numbers and ratio, so later topics don't wobble.
- English
Essay structure, quoting evidence, and summary writing to a word limit.
- Science
Practical write-ups, units, and the vocabulary the mark schemes look for.
Years 10–11Exam years
- Maths & Further Maths
Topic repair first, then timed past-paper sections with marked working.
- English Language & Literature
Set-text revision, timed responses, and feedback written against the criteria.
- Physics · Chemistry · Biology
Required practicals, calculation drills, and long-answer structure.
Same slot, same tutor, every week
Classes run in fixed slots all term, so the week stays predictable. Choose the time that fits your family. We match the group to your child's level at placement.

What happens after you enquire
No long contract to start. We see how your child works, place them honestly, and tell you what we saw.
-
Week 0
Diagnostic lesson
A free 45-minute session on topics just behind and just ahead of where school is now. The session is relaxed and your child isn't graded.
-
Week 1
Placement note
A one-page note: three things going well, three gaps to close, and the group and slot we recommend.
-
Weeks 2–4
The weekly cycle
Recap of last week's mistakes, one new idea, worked practice at the whiteboard, then a short exit ticket before home time.
-
Week 4
Parent check-in
A short written update and a chance to ask for a call. If the group isn't the right fit, we move your child.
Pick the format that fits the gap
Most students do best in a small group. One-to-one and exam sprints are for particular needs, not the default.
| Format | Group size | Length | Best for | Feedback |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small groupWeekly, all term | Up to six, grouped by level, not only by year | 80 minutes with a short break | Steady progress, confidence, and building a homework habit | Exit ticket every lesson, monthly written note |
| One-to-oneBooked by half term | One student, one tutor | 60 minutes | A specific topic gap, returning after time away, or working at a very different pace | Short note after each lesson |
| Exam sprintTerms 3 and 4 | Up to eight, Years 10–11 only | Two hours, Saturday afternoons | Timed papers, mark-scheme language, and exam-day routines | Marked paper returned the following week |
Fees depend on format and slot. We send the full fee sheet with your placement note, so you see it before committing.
Field notes from a normal lesson
- A whiteboard at every seat
Everyone answers at once, so the tutor sees who is stuck within seconds, not at the end.
- Phones in the basket
Phones stay in a basket by the door during teaching and come back at the break.
- Exit ticket before leaving
Three questions at the end show whether the idea stuck. Next week starts from those answers.
- Homework that fits
About 30 minutes a week, set on paper and linked to that lesson.
Before you book
Can't find your question? Add it to the enquiry form and we'll answer in the placement note.
What happens in the free diagnostic lesson?
Your child works through a short set of problems with a tutor for 45 minutes. We watch how they approach questions, not just whether they get them right. You get the placement note within a week.
Do you follow my child's school syllabus?
Yes. Courses follow the national syllabus for each year. Bring recent tests or homework to the diagnostic and we'll align the first few weeks with what school is covering.
What if a lesson is missed?
Let us know before the lesson and your child can join another group at the same level that week, if there's a seat. They can also come to the open study room to go over the worksheet.
Can my child move groups or switch formats?
Yes. If a group feels too fast or too slow, we move your child at the next check-in. You can add one-to-one blocks for a half term without leaving the group.
How much homework is set?
About 30 minutes a week, on paper and tied to that lesson. During school exam weeks we lighten it on request.
How will I know if it's working?
You get a monthly written note covering topics secured, topics still shaky, and what comes next. We also keep your child's exit tickets, and you can see them at any check-in.
Is there a minimum commitment?
Group places are booked a half term at a time. After the first four weeks you can stop at the end of any half term with no extra charge.
